Sawkings Architects were appointed by a private client to propose a new split-level single storey dwelling to blend with the sloping topography and utilise the views towards the estuary at St. Mawes, Truro. The scheme received a planning approval in February 2025.

The proposal incorporates a mix of traditional and contemporary materiality to achieve a design that is sympathetic with its locality, while still maintaining modern appearance.

Openings have been strategically positioned to 'frame' the estuary landscape, creating a picturesque 'experience' for the users to dive in. The use of Cornish Stone as an external and internal finish ties the proposal with its locality and creates a seamless transition between the inside and the outside.
